about
Lemons V Scurvy was the last song to be renamed from its previous demo title The Seeds of Life. This fun little track actually started as a song written by Louis when he was 17 or so in high school for another band at the time called Surrender The Citadel! If you'd really like a throwback to the cringy emo metalcore high school band days, give the original track a listen here: surrenderthecitadel.bandcamp.com (be warned, you're not gonna like it) Its gone through major (MAJOR) rewrites and is quite different in the form it holds today. However, one could say the seeds for what became Lemons V Scurvy was laid over 8 years ago and it has since blossomed into a beautiful lemon tree. This is one of two songs in drop C tuning on a 6 string (the other being Treasure Lane). Also, this song is about pirates.
lyrics
We set sail across the sea
headed beyond the set boundaries.
Past the horizon we set our desires
So blind to what this task requires.
Titans are coming; The Depths they have been summoned.
Ancient nightmares, we cannot prepare.
The maps are not an exaggeration,
here there be monsters.
We sail into the end.
So free, yet our fates condemned.
We sail into the end.
So free.
Lurking beneath the waves below
the oceans masters guard the gates to the unknown.
Seeking new lands for our command
ignorant to the earths dead hand.
Hold onto what you believe in,
even if it's guidance is fleeting.
Set sail.
You anchors will sway,
chains turn to rust always destined to break.
Don't let the current carry you away!
The fury of the sea appears in an apogee
leviathans emerge from the deep.
Storms at the edge of the world
begin to converge, the ocean boils and swirls.
Headed for a watery grave we've begun to stray,
we've now lost our way.
Water pools at the feet, facing down our defeat.
The titans have spoken and we are not chosen!
Hold onto what you believe in,
even if it's guidance is fleeting.
Set sail.
You anchors will sway,
chains turn to rust always destined to break.
Don't let the current carry you away!
Now is not the time, to let go of the fight.
We set sail across the sea,
headed beyond the set boundaries.
Past the horizon, we set our sights and
we made it through to the other side!
Past the horizon we set our sights and
we finally made it through to the other side!

Boy, they came a long way since their debut. Not that Disrepair wasn't any good or so, on the contrary. You'll understand what I mean, if you listen to both. In Extremis is a legit beast in every regard and clearly shows where Bereavement comes from. Awesome uptempo brutality with massive groove and fierce vocals. mourner

Death metal/deathcore hybridization done correct! All the atmospheric passages and samples feel right in place, with great sound. Instrumentation doesn't lack as well, but the vocals could've been a little less upfront. 8.5/10 liltito
